MSC Seascape Cruise - August, 2024

Day 5 – Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Monday, August 5

Since our Galapagos cruise in April was completely jammed packed with activities from dawn to dusk, we dedicated this cruise to downtime, rest and relaxation.  As part of that, and because we have been to Puerto Plata, San Juan and Nassau many times on other cruises, we decided to not schedule any excursions or even get off the ship for these ports.

One complaint you'll see a lot about MSC is that the ships are extremely crowded outside of the Yacht Club and Aurea exclusive areas.  One way to avoid the crowds and lines is to stay on the ship during a port day.  You'll find all areas of the ship relatively quiet and peaceful.  Since we were only planning to get off the ship at Ocean Cay, we took this opportunity to explore more of the rest of the Seascape.

We started off the day with Americanos from the Top Sail Lounge.  One advantage to being there when they open at 6:30a is that you pretty much have the entire lounge to yourself:

Similar to the Bridge of Sighs (but at a much lower height), there are two Infinity Bridges on both sides of Deck 8.

Going inside on Deck 8, this is Liberty Plaza:
