MSC Seascape Cruise - August, 2024
Day 9 – Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas
Friday, August 9
Although we enjoyed relaxing, after 6 straight days on the ship, we were ready to go explore MSC's private island. We went to the Top Sail Lounge at 9:30a, and one of the butlers escorted us down and off the ship.
The Yacht Club area is on the other side of the island from the dock. While you could walk there, it would probably be a 15-20 minute stroll. There are golf-cart style electric vehicles with several rows of seating that circulate around the island. Yacht Club members have a separate transportation waiting area and their own dedicated vehicles.
We tried to reserve a cabana online before the cruise, but there weren't any available. We checked with the Concierge Desk on the first day of the cruise and they confirmed all of the cabanas were reserved, but suggested that we should keep checking back.
This morning we tried one more time and a cabana had just become available. There are type categories of cabanas within the Yacht Club area: Ocean front and Ocean view. Ocean front has direct access to the beach, but also has rows of people in loungers right in front of you. Ocean view has rocks and a drop off to the water, but is much more private. We ended up getting Cabana 9, which is Ocean view:
Cabana 9 ended up being a great location which has the added privacy of being behind these two trees.
The view from our cabana:
The ceiling fan is a great feature:
The cabana rental comes with 4 loungers, 2 umbrellas and floats:
Ocean House is the exclusive restaurant for Yacht Club guests on the island. If you have a cabana, you can avoid the lines at lunch time and have food delivered to your cabana.
We started with the Ocean Cay Salad:
Then the lobster roll:
And finished with the Mango Cheesecake:
This was the only visitor we saw while at our cabana:
Random foliage from around the island:
At about 4:00p, we decided to call it a day. We hopped on the shuttle back to the port, did some brief shopping at the stores and then re-boarded the ship.
Final step count for Day 9:
